I first met Sarah during New York fashion week last year, after months of being Instagram friends. She’s one of those rare people who instantly makes you feel at ease — like you’ve known each other forever. Sarah has the most incredible eye and a genuine talent for capturing the perfect shot (and she’ll sweetly persist until you get it just right). A true girl’s girl through and through.

Hi! I’m Sarah. I live in Paris with my husband, Chris. We relocated last year on a gut feeling and the crazy idea of “if not now, then when”—and well, here we are.

Professionally, I’m a creative consultant and content creator in fashion—which I know can mean a lot of things in today’s digital world. In short, I work at the intersection of fashion, strategy, and storytelling. I partner with brands on everything from content creation to merchandising, styling, and branding, while also sharing my own perspective on style, fashion, and navigating life as a 30-something woman on Substack and across social media. Before this, I co-founded and served as Creative Director of a women’s performance innerwear brand. I’ve spent the majority of my career working across merchandising, eCommerce, and design, in both corporate and startup settings.

Funny enough, I don’t think I truly understood my personal style until I left corporate—which was only four years ago—and even now, it still feels like an ongoing process. Moving to Paris, a city best navigated on foot or by bike, has added a whole new dimension to how I think about dressing and what I need from my wardrobe.

That said, I’ve always gravitated toward classics with a twist and a more minimal, modern approach to getting dressed. I’m originally from the East Coast but spent the last decade on the West Coast, and I think that duality shows in my style. I like things unfussy but polished, refined yet effortless—with a bit of edge and a touch of femininity. I’m always looking for subtle ways to create interest and tension in a look. At the heart of it all is a deep appreciation for how a piece is made and the story it tells—because to me, personal style is as much about how you feel in what you wear as it is about how it looks.

What she wore: Nili Lotan Maelle Jacket (vintage option, Kallmeyer option, Reformation option), Toteme jeans and shoes, Freja bag, Leset long sleeve tee (or tee), Dorsey necklace, Agmes earrings, Celine sunglasses

Where she wore it: doctors appointment, apartment viewing, and lunch with Chris

Thoughts behind the look: What I love about this jacket is it’s an instant outfit maker—it has enough interest and dimension to carry the whole look. I kept the rest simple white tee and my jeans. For dinner, I just swapped the flip-flops for these slingbacks to give it a sharper, more elevated feel.

Where she wore it: breakfast event, lunch with a friend, shopping in Soho

Thoughts behind the look: This might be one of my favorite outfits. It’s from last spring in New York, but it, more or less, captures the core of my sartorial vibe—polished yet relaxed, timeless yet current. The base is simple—just jeans and a tee—but I leaned on accessories and a heeled sandal to elevate the look. I carried the bag as a clutch for the event to make it feel more refined, then later slung it over my shoulder for hands-free shopping.

Where she wore it: two apartment showings, lunch and grocery shopping

Thoughts behind the look: In Paris, comfortable walking shoes are a must—but anyone who knows me knows sneakers aren’t usually my first choice outside of a workout. Instead, I opt for very comfortable flats or loafers (still in search of loafers I can walk miles in tbh). Day to day, my outfits tend to lean more casual and masculine, so to balance that out—and add a bit of tension and a feminine touch—I’ll often reach for a flat with a pointed or almond-shaped toe. I wish I had a more robust necklace game, I feel like an Adina Reyter or Dorsey stack would punch this up a bit.

Where she wore it: coffee date with Chris and to pick up brunch

Thoughts behind the look: This was one of those days when I wanted to feel like I was wearing pajamas—but not look like it. These jeans are always in heavy rotation from April through September. They’re the perfect alternative to The Row’s Eglitta without the hefty price tag, and I love that they come in a shorter inseam. I layered a white tee with a high-crewneck under the sweater (me and cream don’t always get a long). Whenever I’m working with a more laid-back base like this, I like to add something tailored or structured. In this case, it’s the coat—but it could just as easily be sunglasses, a bag, or shoes. I’m all about creating subtle contrast and a bit of tension in a look.

Thoughts behind the look: I’m pretty sure this outfit came together based on whatever was most accessible in my suitcase after landing in Paris last spring—but it works. I had just gotten these pants in an effort to not always default to jeans, they’ve been a game-changer ever since! They’re laid-back but modern. I usually wear them in casual settings, but I keep meaning to dress them up with heeled sandals and a blazer or jacket.

Where she wore it: errands around Paris

Thoughts behind the look: When in doubt, I go tonal. I’ve been hunting forever for a great ‘tea-au-lait’ colored jean, and this almondette shade from Citizens of Humanity is utter perfection. I just wish they made them in petite—they run pretty large. I also wish I’d left time to iron them. My grandmother is probably rolling in her grave, and if my mom sees this, she’s definitely rolling her eyes, lol.

Where she wore it: NYFW appointments and lunch with friends. Was this the day that we first met IRL?! (yes, it was!)

Thoughts behind the look: My day-to-day style is pretty casual, so when I’m in NYC for fashion week, I like to—try a little harder? Lol. This skirt still reminds me of this Prada one from their Fall 2023 collection and I love it paired with these slightly unconventional metallic sandals and a suede bag. A little suede-lace texture play, if you will. Since I was heading to meetings, I added the long blazer coat to pull everything together and make it feel more polished.

The Row N/S Large Park Tote (in elephant, but this brown is equally divine)—I’m obsessed, Violette Fr Bisou Jelly, Sonsie Skin lip balm, and/or Jones Road lip tint, Crown Affair hair clip, Celine sunglasses, Nécessarie hand cream, Hand sanitizer, an ancient Cuyana wallet (most similar), Cuyana travel pouch with all my knick knacks like bandaids (a must living in Paris), AirPods, floss, and ear plugs. If I’ve really got my shit together—a portable charger.

Rapid Fire

What’s your ultimate wardrobe MVP? A good pair of jeans. They are the backbone of so many of my outfits.
What’s one brand you’d happily wear for the rest of your life? This is where my commitment issues come out lol, but probably Toteme (with a side of shoes and accessories from The Row)
What’s one trend you wish to never come back? Pants with words splashed across the ass. I’m looking at you Juicy Couture.
Who’s your style icon? I don’t know if I have one true style icon. I’ve never been someone who idolizes people—I tend to gravitate more toward ideas and vibes—what an Aquarian thing for me to say lol (I am, fact, an Aquarius). That being said, there are a ton of people whose style I admire. Anouk Yve, The Olsens, CBK, Denise Nørgaard, Meg Strachan, Filippa Kindén, Hannah Lewis, Katie Holmes, LSD, Zoe Kravitz—how much time you got? That’s just from a quick scroll through my saves. I also find a lot of inspiration from my friends, walking around the city, photography, and even the design of products themselves.
What does your ideal day look like? Totally depends on my mood, but give-or-take it would include: waking up without an alarm, journaling before touching my phone, getting a good Tracy Anderson workout in, quality time with Chris, a green juice or smoothie and a matcha with homemade almond milk, popping in and of shops in the city or hanging out in the park, catching up with a girl friend, time in the sun and/or nature, good conversation over a great meal with natural wine and being in bed reading before 10pm.
